SEO playbook: local clinic
How we plan SEO for a local clinic that wants more patients from Google search and Google Maps in its own city.
Example approach. This page shows how we typically plan this kind of project. It is not a specific client’s story, and the figures we track depend on your business.
How we plan SEO for a local clinic that wants more patients from Google search and Google Maps in its own city.
The situation
A dental clinic has a website built a few years ago and a Google Business Profile with some reviews. Most new patients come from word of mouth, and the clinic does not appear for searches like “dentist near me” or “teeth whitening cost” in its area.
Common challenges
- The website is slow on mobile and has one page for all treatments.
- The Google Business Profile has missing services, few photos and old posts.
- Name, address and phone are different across directories.
- There is no content answering the questions patients actually search for.
Our approach, step by step
- Audit the website. We check speed, mobile usability, indexing and errors in Search Console, then fix the technical problems first
- Create one page per treatment. Root canal, whitening, implants and braces each get a page with what it involves, the cost range in ₹ and FAQs
- Optimise the Google Business Profile. Correct categories, every service listed, real photos, weekly posts and replies to every review
- Fix local listings. The same name, address and phone on Justdial, Practo and other directories
- Answer patient questions. Short articles on the questions people search before booking, written so Google and AI search can quote them
- Ask for reviews the right way. A simple WhatsApp message after each visit, asking patients to mention the treatment they had
- Build local mentions. Listings and links from local directories, associations and news sites
What we track
- Rankings for treatment and “near me” searches
- Calls and direction requests from Google Maps
- Website enquiries and booking clicks
- Impressions in AI Overviews from Search Console
What you get every month
- Work done and pages published
- Keyword and Maps visibility
- Enquiries from search
- The plan for next month
What to expect, and when
Technical fixes and Google Business Profile updates can show early movement in Maps within a few weeks. Ranking for competitive treatment searches usually takes several months, and the results last longer than paid ads.
